The result of journals

Hello come back to my blog, today i would like to discuss the results of the journals before i read. Ok, let's readπŸ‘

Reading is a fun activity and makes our brain more insightful, but very difficult to do. Therefore, there must be a strategy that is used when teaching reading to students, one strategy that can be used is, DRTA (Directed Reading Thinking Activity) is a reading strategy by predicting an image, the title of a text to make it easier to know the contents the story of the text before being read thoroughly. This DRTA strategy is very suitable to use if you are a teacher, so the teaching methods vary and make children enthusiastic about reading, especially reading English texts.
The results of the journal journals before I read, it turns out that DRTA can improve reading skills for students, and help learners focus on the topic and the researcher explanation easily. The DR-TA strategy is successfully facilitated learners in information within the text through making predictions, reading and confirming their predictions. Pre-teaching vocabulary and prediction activities help learners to recognize clues, words, and understandings of words from the context and then group discussions help learners to actively participate during the reading class.
Ok i think it's enough review of the results of journals from me, I hope this blog is usefull for you.

Thank you :)

The comparison of two journals

Hello everyone came back in my blog "Yuvi Sri Widia", a long time no see, readers. Today i would like to compare reseach methodology and reaserach finding with the new journals that I have read. So, happy reading πŸ‘
Learning English is a must to learn, but is not easy for Indonesian students because English and Indonesian are very different in terms of spelling, sounds and pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. The students of English texts that they read. There are many factors causing the low reading ability of the students. It can be caused by a teacher and teaching technique used by the teacher. So to improve reading skills for students using a technique called DRTA (Direct Reading Thinking Activity), this strategy may still be unknown to many people, but this strategy is very good applied to improve reading skills the students.
• Comparison reserach methodology and Finding Result.
In new journals before I read the research design using the first 4 steps, Diagnosed Step, Second Panning Action, the Taking Action, and then the last Evaluating Action. The stages used are the same as the previous journals, because in implementing the DRTA strategy this stage is very important to do.
Results finding,
The results findings in the second journal it only uses 2 reflection cycles, with a system of pre test and post test. DRTA used three stages, the first is predicting (Making predictions before reading like, previewing the title or seeing pictures), the second Reading (reading after predicting) and the last is proving / Disproving (re-revealing the results of predictions with the same reading or not )
The results were found that the use of DRTA strategies was very effective in harmonizing reading skills with students. and then the lack is the absence of accurate data to strengthen statements such as graphs or charts that DRTA can improve students' abilities.
I think is enough for today, thank you for visit :)

Methodology and the result of journal

Holla reader's welcome back in my blog, in this opportunity I would like to share the methodology in my journal before I read. So let's check this out !!
In a study there must be a method that is used, the goal is to find out how influential the technique used for the student is examined. In this journal the research was conducted on D-IV Midwifery Program students in the Health Sciences Faculty of the University of Kediri, East Java. The research subjects were the seventh semester D-IV students at the Kediri University Midwifery Faculty Program. There are five classes in the midwifery department but only one class is taken for this study. The method used in this journal is a class action method consisting of planning, action, observation, reflection, and evaluation. In collecting data, quantitative and qualitative data are used to determine the increase in student competence in reading. To analyze the data using quantitative methods, researchers used the average value to recognize student increases and use questionnaires, observations, and interviews given to students.
The application of the DRTA technique through classroom action research consists of three cycles. Each cycle consists of three meetings to deliver material and one meeting for post test. Each meeting takes 90 minutes. In all cycles, narrative explanations and discussion texts are used as material in teaching. The first stage is done by giving a stimulus to students in the form of the title of a text, and they must be able to guess what the contents of the title of the text are about.
From the observation the results of the cycle of the one-cycle three-way findings in implementing the DRTA technique. It has positive results. The positive results are:
1. The improvement of students' reading competence
2. The improvement of confidence, motivation, and involvement in reading activity.
Students were motivated to learn English text more. By using some pictures series and video from YouTube, which is presented in the narrative, explanation, and presentation was more interesting. They made students learn enthusiastically. They enjoy and give good response during the teaching learning process. In a discussion, they helped each other to finish the task. The group was ready when they had to report on their discussion.
The DRTA technique is very suitable to used, to improve the reading skill for students, so that it is easier to be able to identify main ideas, to find meaning of new words, the student could recognize references, an to determine the information of the english language text.
Thank you :)

International jurnals review

Holla Holla reader's come back in my blog yuvi sri widia for the  many time. Today I would like to review about the theory in my journals before I read. So let's read and enjoy reading 😊

Reading is an activity that understands the contents of a text that was previously or is being read. In this journal there are several theories that are presented about what is the meaning of reading and theory about the principles of how to teach reading to students. According to the National Reading panel (2001) reading is a set of skills that allows rapid decodes text while maintaining high comprehension. Comprehension is the process of making the sense of words, sentences and connected text. According to Nunan (1998: 33) reading is a process of decoding writteny symbols, working from smaller units (individual letters) to larger ones (words, clauses and sentences).
According to Harmer (2004: 70) there are six principles behind the teaching reading, those are:
(1) Reading is not a passive skill
(2) Students need to be engaged with what they read
(3) Students should be encouraged to respond to the content of reading text
(4) Prediction is a major factor in reading
(5) Match the task to the topic
(6) Good exploit teachers reading texts to the full.
So, being able to understand the contents of the reading is very important in reading a book, text or sentence in English. Therefore, research is used with the Directed Reading Thingking Activities method quoted from the link (http: //www.education.tas.quo.ou/english/drta.htm).
DRTA is a way of teaching students to read closely and purposefully. A text is
revealed to the students in installments. As each is introduced, the students are asked
to make prediction, reach conclusions, and consider the structures and features as supporting evidence from the text.
Thank you 😊

Directed Reading Thinking Activity

Holla my friends ✋ come back with me Yuvi Sri Widia in my first blog in 4th semester.  This blog will contain a review of journals that will become the foundation when I do research later. Well, I chose a journal about Reading. The title is "Improving Students’ Reading Competence through DRTA ( Directed Reading Thinking Activity) Technique" Writing by Pamadya Vitasmoro. The reason why i'm choosing the journals because When I read an English text I was still having problems in thinking about the main idea or purpose of the text.
So, let's see to the introduction in this journal.

INTRODUCTION

The eucation of Indonesia, especially in English learning, is often complained of many students. Although English has been introduced since primary up to university it is still assumed as a difficult subject to be learn. Especially in the ability to read English text. According to the National Reading panel (2001) reading is a set of skills that allows rapid decodes text while maintaining high comprehension. So the point of reading must be able to understand what the contents of the text are. In this journal the research was conducted on students of the D-IV Midwifery Program of Health Sciences Faculty of Kediri University still encounters some difficulties in using their English for comprehending English text. Many students have insufficient skills in reading. They get difficulties in identifying main ideas, finding meaning of new words, recognizing references, determining the text purpose, and determining detailed information. There are reasons that caused the unwanted result of reading class.
The first is the passage itself which is difficult to understand by the students, the second is the teacher's teaching technique teaches reading and last is in the class atmospheresilent. One of the steps to link the students' reading competence is through the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) technique. It is an instructional activity that used predicting and confirming strategies to help build critical reading and thinking skills.

Last review

Welcome back to my blog, this is the last review from a book "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" At this time I would like to review part nine and part ten, in part nine there are three chapter and in part ten explain about some experience the readers after reading a book "How to stop Worrying and Start Living"

Let's read it!!

• Part Nine: How to Lessen Your Financial Worries
Here, Carnegie lays down the very basics of personal finance, from the simple “spend less than you earn” statements to the basics of budgeting. The advice is simple and very much geared towards families during the Depression, with such interesting dated tips as “never give life insurance money to a widow in cash.” Much like the previous section, the advice here can be found in a more modern context elsewhere quite easily.
To lessen financial worries, let's try to follow these eleven rules:
1. Get the facts down on paper.
2. Get a tailor-made budget that really fits your needs one.
3. Learn how to spend wisely.
4. Don't increase your headaches with your income.
5. Try to build credit, in the event you must borrow.
6.Protect yourself against illness, fire, and emergency expenses.
7. Do not have your life-insurance proceeds paid to your widow in cash.
8. Teach your children a responsible attitude towards money.
9. If necessary, make a little extra money off your kitchen stove
10. Don't gamble-ever.
11. If we can't possibly improve our financial situation, let's be good to ourselves and stop resenting what can't be changed.

• Part Ten: “How I Conquered Worry”
The book concludes with a large assortment of stories from various people, many of whom were well-known contemporaries of Dale Carnegie. I found Jack Dempsey’s essay particularly interesting. The stories reiterate the advice in several ways and are both culturally interesting and also great for providing examples of how Carnegie’s advice can be implemented in day-to-day life.
If we can't possibly improve our financial situation, maybe we can improve our mental attitude towards it. Let's remember that other people have their financial worries, too. If we can't have all we want, let's not poison our days and sour our dispositions with worry and resentment. Let's be good to ourselves. Let's try to be philosophical about it. "If you have what seems to you insufficient," said one of Rome's greatest philosophers, Seneca, "then you will be miserable even if you possess the world."
And the last, by reading the book, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, you will learn timeless and proven principles on how to conquer worry, stress and anxiety.  And as such, you can be more effective in your professional and personal life. In general, Carnegie considers the best solution to worrying is praying. Put your issues in God’s hands and trust that you’ll be safe and protected and that whatever happens, you’ll turn out fine. Relax, take care of your health, organize, work, get excited about activities inside and out of work, and get plenty of rest. Do these things, Carnegie notes, and you’ll have a handle on your worries.

Thank you for visit :)
